PROGRAM UPDATE & SCHEDULE CHANGE!
YIDDISH LANGUAGE CLASSES
We're excited to announce that the year 2012 will see the premiere of our first 3-week intensive Weimar Yiddish Language Program. Three week-long consecutive courses will be offered by world-renowned teachers:
Beginners: July 21-28, 2012, with Dorothea Greve, Hamburg University
Intermediate: July 30 - August 5, 2012, with Yuri Vedenyapin, Columbia University, USA
Advanced Seminar: August 7 -14, 2012, with Prof. Dr. Shimen Neuberg, Trier University
All three courses are meant to be consecutive, meaning that you can and should take them one after the other (if you work hard). If you have only one or two weeks free, you can also register for one or more courses separately, at the appropriate level.
The advanced seminar with Prof. Dr. Shimen Neuberg course expects you to know Yiddish pretty well. Those having done the intermediate courses in the last years are welcome. More information on the topic of this course will be posted soon on our website.
In 2012 for the first time in Weimar you can come and study Yiddish for 3 ½ weeks – with some of the best teachers and scholars in the world – including a fascinating cultural program (Yiddish Summer Weimar) with evening sessions, concerts and other activities.
PLEASE NOTE: To make this consecutive program possible, the intermediate class is now scheduled for the week following the beginning class. There will be no intermediate class during the week of July 21-28.
NEW! CHILDREN'S SONGS WORKSHOP
For the first time in Weimar, we are offering a workshop aimed at children, but not only! Children's Songs presents Yiddish and some parallel German children's songs for the Young and the Young at Heart. Taught by Dr. Diana Matut, from the University of Halle. More information coming soon. Dates: August 6-10, 2012
